In class we talked about IEP and learned a little bit about how to assist students with accommodations and different methods to make an educational decision. In the IEP meeting we learned to talk about the strengths, concerns of the parents, the results of the evaluation and the development and functional needs of the student. This connects to standard 4 which states beginning special education professionals use multiple methods of assessment and data sources in making educational decisions.

I will use this information in my future because I want to find different ways to help my students. Say they are hard of hearing, does the student need an assistive device or does sitting close in the classroom work better. I can try these out in gen ed classes to see what works better for the student and to have that plan on their IEP. I want to work with my students and try as many possible methods to find the one that works best for my students which will lead me to making educated decisions.
